These are the three guide bars we sell to our chainsaw mills:
- Guide Bar Premium – A fantastic, fine, solid guide bar for log sawing. Thinner material combined with strong hardening and precise tolerances in the guide bar groove produces a bar that is ideal for chainsaw mills.
Recommended! - Guide Bar Solid – Laser cut solid sword with high quality. Moulded groove for the chain. Stable and wide fastening with strong hardening. Without top pulley.
- Guide Bar Standard – A simple sword bar made with three composite plates. Lightweight but slightly softer than a solid guide bar. We used to use this guide bar, but nowadays, we almost always choose Premium or Solid.

This is how we think when we choose guide bar:
Here’s how we think at Logosol when choosing guide bars for ourselves:
Once you’ve invested in a sawmill, it’s wise to ensure that the cutting equipment is of high quality. A good guide bar has a longer operating time, provides smoother sawing, and provides better results. And you can spend time on the most fun thing there is, sawing really nice construction lumber!
We usually use the Premium Guide Bar when sawing. Both we and the customers who buy this guide bar are extremely happy with it. It is more expensive, but it also lasts longer, and we, therefore, think it is well worth buying.
A good option is Guide Bar Solid, which absolutely does an excellent job. It has a slightly shorter lifespan but is affordable and good.
We also sell the Guide Bar Standard, but this bar is of lower quality and is only recommended for customers who will only be sawing a few logs. It is a simpler laminated guide bar that requires more care for a good result. It’s an economy guide bar but not one we usually recommend for chainsaw mills.
Logosol chains for chain sawmills
We sell Stihl PMX Picco ripping chains that are adapted for sawing on chain sawmills.
Some advantages of the chains we sell:
- They are sharpened at a 10-degree angle instead of the standard 30-degree angle for cutting chains.
- The saw kerf is only 6 mm.
- Stihl’s chains have really good quality and are well proven by both us and our customers.
- The chains have holes in the drive links that allow the oil to be better transported along the bar for less wear.
- The chains are pre-tightened. This means that they do not need to be tightened as often.
- The cutting links are long, which means they can be sharpened many times.
Tips! It is often stated on the bar how many drive links the chain should have.
Sprockets for our saw units
We have selected sprockets that are adapted for our different saw units. Make sure you choose the right sprockets that are adapted to your chain. If you use the sprockets we recommend, you can rest assured that you will get it right.
