Building Tables with the Help of a Big Mill Wide Slabber

Alexander Wikström builds furniture and wood products of solid wood.

“As a novice at sawmills, and not really knowing what I was plunging into, I made contact with a company that could not only offer sawmills, but also the best possible support.

After I had decided, my first sawmill purchase was a Logosol Big Mill. With this equipment, I had a portable sawmill with the possibility of sawing large logs with a diameter of up to 135 on the spot. Since 2019, I also have a Logosol B1001 band sawmill; a combination that gives me the opportunity to saw more efficiently and make use of even more logs!”

Sawing with the Same Sawmill for 30 Years

Paul Ullsten bought one of the first sawmills manufactured by Logosol.

“It was absolutely superb and very economical,” Paul states. “A couple of years later, I equipped it with an electric saw. And I have bought a stronger log lifter and extended the guide rail. But apart from that, the sawmill is the same as when I bought it three decades ago.”

Paul brings the sawmill with him and sets it up on a suitable spot, no matter if it is at the homes of friends who need help with building something, or if it is out in the woods to saw blowdowns.

Construction Dreams Become a Reality with Logosol’s Band Sawmill

The Pettersson family just outside of Åmål are what you might call big users of Logosol products. During the construction of his new house, Anders Pettersson sawed 5,500 running meters with Logosol’s Bandsaw B751 and ran parts of it in a planer from Logosol.

Anders went to forestry school in Dals Ed in the 80s and then worked in forestry for 6–7 years. He then changed his profession, but continued to farm his own forest. The family’s farm is called Kesebol and consists of 150 hectares, of which 120 are productive forest land. The house that Anders is in the process of completing is 125 square meters and is beautifully located on a hill with a fantastic view of Hultsjön.

In Gothenburg the Park Trees Become Furniture

During a storm in Gothenburg earlier this year, a more than 300-year-old oak fell in the city park Slottsskogen. The Parks and Nature Department of the City of Gothenburg wanted to make use of the historic tree, and started a sustainability project where the wood material could be further used. The Logosol Big Mill Wide Slabber was perfectly suited to the task.

We Who Work at Logosol Also Cut Timber

The founder of Logosol, Bengt-Olov Byström, is one of many that work at Logosol and also use the machines in the product range.

“We have built a house that will stand for centuries. This is an insight that gives perspective as regards choice of building materials,” says Bengt-Olov, who has cut all timber for the cladding on a Logosol chain sawmill and a Logosol-Laks frame saw.

“To plane and mould the boards yourself instead of buying finished products is a fun and economical way of enhancing the quality of a house.”
